Indonesian Association for Public Administration (IAPA) conducted an international conference annually to ensure the current trends in Public Administration field. This year the conference would be conducted at Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Universitas Sebelas Maret (FISIP-UNS). The theme for this year’s conference would be “Governance and Public Policy in the Society 5.0”. This theme was chosen as a response to the growing needs of knowledge and sharing expertise in the recent era where technology information advancement, post- Covid-19 pandemic and people are blended into a society that also known as Society 5.0. The existence of society 5.0 has become more visible since the concept was released in Japan. One definition society 5.0 we know a human-centered society that balances economic advancement with the resolution of social problems by a system that highly integrates cyberspace and physical space. Social reform (innovation) in Society 5.0 will achieve a forward-looking society that breaks down the existing sense of stagnation, a society whose members have mutual respect for each other, transcending the generations, and a society in which each and every person can lead an active and enjoyable life. In Society 5.0, a huge amount of information from sensors in physical space is accumulated in cyberspace. In cyberspace, this big data is analyzed by artificial intelligence (AI), and the analysis results are fed back to humans in physical space in various forms. Rigid, flaccid and slow bureaucratic type of organizations are no longer compatible with the new challenges in the society 5,0 with disruptive environment. On the other hand, Governance is expected to trigger the growth of a super-smart society. Governance and public policy would be able to protect people from digital divide, but also that it would create a humane environment in which all the technology-based public services would improve prosperity and well-being for all. The annual conference this year also tries to expand collaboration with other field of study. A collaboration is conducted between IAPA annual conference and ICSAE conference. There would be two conferences, first is the pre-conference that is co-jointly held with ICSAE on August 2021 and the main annual conference that will be held on October 2021. The pre-conference provides great opportunity to build worldwide networks, as well as to share knowledge and experiences on the current advances in sustainable agricultural and environmental topics.
