Laboratory for Public Governance Reform

The Laboratory for Public Governance Reform is a laboratory for the Public Administration Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sebelas Maret (FISIP UNS), which contributed to public sector governance reform. The main problem of public administration in Indonesia is the poor quality of public policies and management which has implications for high levels of corruption and poor performance of public administration. In order to fix those problems, it is necessary to transform the management of public affairs (public governance) from the old centralistic and bureaucratic paradigm of state administration to the paradigm of democratic, fair, and human public administration (democratic and human public governance). For this reason, holistic-comprehensive reforms are needed to all dimensions of public sector governance, both in terms of institutional and managerial capacity, human resource capacity, values , and work culture, public policy, and governance as well as community capacity.

Based on this problem, the Laboratory for Public Governance Reform aims to develop a global-oriented public administration reform based on local wisdom through research and community services in the fields
of: 1) Organizational Reform and Public Management, 2) HR Management Reform and Bureaucratic Work Culture, 3 ) Reform of Public Policy and Governance, and 4) Development of Democracy and Civil Society.
